Another weird scheme in Milan to get the Italian women to have more babies! Free parking for 90 minutes in specially designated places marked in pink.
The spaces, which are accompanied by a picture of a woman with a prominent bump painted on the pavement, have been created outside 17 of the city's most visited hospitals and paediatric centres. "It is a little symbolic gesture," said Giampaolo Landi di Chiavenna, the city's head of health.
The "courtesy areas" allow pregnant women 90 minutes of free parking.The northern city's scheme is one of a number of eccentric initiatives to persuade Italian women to start having more children. Italy has one of the oldest populations and one of the lowest birth rates in Europe. (Telegraph)
