I regret that I never did get to go on a cruise on the QE2. Not sure I want to go for a cruise on the Queen Victoria considering the luck that is dogging her! That leaves Queen Mary 2. Hopefully I can save up enough for a cruise before QM2 also retires ;-)
The Queen is to say an emotional farewell to the QE2, more than 40 years after she launched the world's fastest merchant ship.
The QE2 was bought for £50 million last year by Dubai World's investment arm, Istithmar, for use as a floating hotel. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the chairman of Dubai World, said: "We understand the rich heritage of QE2. She will be cherished." (Telegraph)
